Tenants enjoy conference in Barry
Hafod Care's annual tenants' conference, held this year in Barry Memorial Hall, has been "successful and enjoyable".
Well over 100 tenants came along to participate in the various activities and workshops on offer. A host of partner organisations helped to make the day entertaining and varied. The theme for the day, launched by Hafod Care Board member Sue Sheppard, was to tackle issues for tenants and have fun at the same time.
Activities included:
- Life coaching
- Arts and crafts
- Massage
- Nail painting
- Nintendo Wii
Information and advice were available first-hand from:
- South Wales Police
- Advocacy Matters
- Vale of Glamorgan Supporting People team
- Hafod Care Maintenance team
- AWEMA (All-Wales Ethnic Minority Association)
Jane Lewis, area manager for supported housing services, said:
"Attendance today was excellent, and so many tenants have told me that they really enjoyed themselves. I hope we've been able to provide information for tenants in a fun and accessible way. I'd like to thank everyone who helped organise the conference and make it such a success, particularly the partner organisations who came along and set up stalls."
A raffle was held in aid of the British Heart Foundation, and a collection to assist the Cardiff FoodBank initiative. Jane added:
"We had a superb response to our collection. Tenants and staff at Hafod Care gave generously to the FoodBank, which has been set up to help ensure that people in crisis can access good, nutritional food. Thanks again to everyone who gave food and raffle prizes!"
