There is a modern lift provided for those people who find using the stairs difficult and the wide corridors with sturdy rails offer safety of movement. Each room is fitted with a mobile call system with which help can be summoned quickly day and night. The large, pleasantly furnished bathrooms are equipped with specialist baths and hoists to aid those who require help bathing, as well as a special hydrospa therapy bath and 2 showers. Grab rails are also situated near and in the toilet areas.

Other services, such as the doctor, dentist, optician etc, can be arranged from local practitioners who already visit the home. The local health centre is across the road, and the local community nurses provide visits on request by the local doctors. A Hairdresser visits on a weekly basis and the Chiropodist every 6 weeks at a discounted rate.

Care staff are supported by excellent cooks. A 4 weekly menu is provided, with the cooks ensuring that everyone has a well balanced diet as well as trying to cater for individual preferences. Special diets can be catered for and our residents are consulted through various residents/ staff groups on changes and choices in the menus every season. Modern laundry facilities are provided on the premises. There are a number of lounges and TV rooms where you can mix with others or pursue more individual interests. Residents are encouraged to continue any gardening skills. The byword of life in Cathedral View is choice and individual freedom - your interests and wishes will be respected.

We have a well organised timetable of various activities and calendar celebrations which you may wish to join. We also encourage residents to continue their own interests and hobbies and develop new ones. Our managers and activities organiser will be pleased to listen to your ideas and requests. In order to ensure that residents are fully involved and consulted on all aspects of operation of the home and the provision of care, residents meetings are held. House Committee meetings are also held in the home twice a year. These meetings are made up of residents, relatives and staff, and are attended by Senior Managers and Board Members of Hafod Care Association.

A variety of local shops including the Post Office are alongside and just across the road, and a public house is only a very short walk away. There is a regular bus service, No 35 into the town centre opposite the home.

There are churches of various denominations in the locality whose ministers often visit the home for social visits as well performing communion. Transport can be arranged with them to attend local services.
