Picton Cout, Porthcawl
200 West Road, Nottage, Porthcawl, CF36 3RT.
Picton Court is our 76 bed care home with nursing in Nottage near Porthcawl. This development has been one of our most ambitious projects for the elderly to date and has progressed well. The home has currently undergone a £2.5 million upgrade to ensure the service standards meet and exceed the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes and Older People.
The three phases of project are now complete and have made an enormous difference to the quality of the home. Phase One involved building a state-of-the-art laundry which now meets the required Health and Safety Standards as well as making life much easier for staff.
During Phase Two, the en_main building was totally refurbished. The existing communal lounge and dining areas, which were previously dark and cramped, have been opened up significantly to increase the feeling of light and space.
The final stage of refurbishment involved demolishing and re-building an older wing of the building and providing 24 new en-suite rooms which exceed space standards set by the CSIW.
Our work throughout this project has been helped significantly by the relationships we have established with the Care Standards Inspectorate of Wales and the Local Authority. We are extremely grateful for the valuable advice they have been able to provide throughout the refurbishment and can say with confidence that Picton Court not only meets but exceed the stringent standards that have been set by that organisation, ensuring the best facilities and care are provided for our residents.
As well as en-suite bathrooms in every room, the home benefits from a state-of-the-art kitchen, laundry and assisted bathing area, which when coupled with the stunning views over the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club and the Bristol Channel beyond make it a highly desirable home for our residents.
We are particularly proud of the results of our development activity at Picton Court and hope to further enhance the services we offer there in the future by developing extra care facilities, thereby widening the choice we offer to older people.
